Snakes

Originally, I was thinking of having two snake cards for people to choose between.  However, since then I've had what I think is a better idea.  So, now I have two possible snake cards and a tough choice to make, as both are pretty powerful.  I'd love to hear what others think - which would you prefer to see in this deck?

For me, I would go for the snake shedding its skin.  It still has the aspect of winding, and a creature that sheds its skin could, in some ways, be seen as deceptive.  Yet, it also allows a more positive take on this reptile which is often associated with healing and with the Goddess...

Update: both cards will go in, as well as another extra, taking the deck up to 45 cards.  The first snake is more traditional, but then, this isn't meant to be an entirely traditional deck, even if it can be used as such :)

  1. I can see how that would work for you as I've noticed in your readings that Snake is associated with transformation. :)

I like the first image because it focuses more on the snake itself. I'd personally like to see some hint of femaleness in the card. Some traditions associate Snake with twisting and turning, deception, and some with women. I suppose the moon might be seen as nod to the feminine...and possibly also the confusion associated with deception, etc.

    I vote for card 1. :D

    1. Hmm, it's actually meant to be the sun, not the moon, in card one - but there's a moon in card 2 - will that change your mind ;) Card two has plenty of winding, and as it's nighttime, the aspect of deception could be there...

  2. I prefer the second one; very powerful in its image of transformation, and leaving what no longer fits behind...

    1. Hi Nion,

Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes to see the Snake as having some powerful, positive attributes :)

  3. I suppose I will always choose the simpler option for Lenormand cards. Don't mind me. :)

    1. Don't worry, you're certainly not the only one. I'm rethinking my snake choices...

  4. Purely for how the card looks, I prefer the first one too. It just seems to sit better and has more depth. Not that I dislike the second one. I just think the first has more impact.

    1. It's interesting, because Will likes the second better, he feels it has both impact and depth. It'll be fascinating to see how the feel changes once they have colour... :)

    2. I think they will take on completely different characters with colour. As I said earlier, you've got to go with what sits right with you. If it feels right for you, then it will sing when you write about it and work with the deck :)
